CSV identity import using tab as separator

Resolved

Hello,

I would like to set up an identity import from a csv file using a tab character as the field separator.

The csv connector works perfectly when I use a semicolon (;) as the separator. However, when I configure the separator as a tabulation, the import fails.

Additionally, the Memority documentation mentions that the separator must be represented by a single character which raises the question of how a tab separator should be handled in this context.

Do you know how to properly configure a tab separated file for identity import in Memority?

Thank you !

Hi there,

It is absolutely possible to configure a csv import using a tab character as the field separator.

To do so, the connector must be configured via Intellij using the MIT plugin.

When using a semicolon (;) as a separator, the connector property defined in the connector definition is usually defined as :

  • namev: fieldDelimiter

  • value : ;

In the case of a tabulation, the separator must still be defined as a single character. Since a tab is a non printable character, it needs to be represented using its unicode hexadecimal value.

You therefore need to configure the connector property as follows :

  • name : fieldDelimiter

  • value :

corresponds to the Unicode representation of the tab character allowing the CSV parser to correctly interpret tab separated files.

I hope the answer is understandable ๐Ÿ™‚

Best regards,

Anouar
